Barti Art 2018
Illustration, ceramic, textile, print. You name it, it was entered during the first ever Barti Art Competition.
During the summer of 2018 we had an idea. To celebrate the power of creativity, through social media we asked people to send us their art.
We asked for any medium, any style, any art of any description whatsoever, as long as it was inspired by Barti.
We launched a competition with a cash prize and a case of Barti Rum up for grabs, the brief was broad, and we really had no idea what to expect…
…but boy did people get stuck in! We were dumbfounded with the response and amazed by all the beautiful things that started to arrive from far and wide, one entry actually came from Spain!
Everything we received is compiled here in no particular order. Scroll down to find the joint first prize winners!
A week long exhibition took place at the gorgeously rugged and rural Druidstone Hotel. The entries were judged by ourselves (Jonathan Williams, Fran Barnikel and Jonathan’s lovey parents Athena and Martin Williams) as well as the exceptionally talented screen print artist Tom Frost and the wonderful Nay Chiffi from National Theatre Wales.
After much deliberation not one but two first place winners were chosen.
One of the winners was Oli Lee, a master craftsman of all things wood made this fantastic automata.

And the second winner of joint first prize was Daisy B with this amazing song she wrote, listen here.

Choosing was so hard, all the entries, especially the twenty runners up who each got a bottle of Barti were exceptional. Congratulations all and thank you so much for joining in.
No doubt there will be a Barti Art 19. Watch this space.
